Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Adventure — pcgamereader @ April 25, 2006

A continuation of one of the most compelling stories ever told through a game.

I started playing this game for about 4 days ago, and now I’m trough. I have to say that it sure is a great game to play. Both for those who did play TLJ, and those who didn’t. This game includes so many wonderful moments, puzzles, conversations, in-game movies, and a lot of other things.

“Let’s be upfront about this: in modern terms, Dreamfall has little gameplay. But in this case, that concern is almost totally irrelevant.” -Yahoo! Video Games

What i found to be the most negative thing about the game (and almost the only one) was the ending. I’m not going to say what happens in the end, but i found it really disappointing.

There’s only one other negative thing, that’s the voice casting. Not all of the voices are that great as they where in TLJ 1, but also in Dreamfall, you may find some of the characters intresting to interact with. (more…)

Tomb Raider Legend

Adventure — pcgamereader @ April 11, 2006

Best in the series, amazing gameplay, almost flawless. Highly recommended.

Its been a while since the last Tomb Raider, and to be honest - it sucked. So did pretty much all the others since Tomb Raider 2. So this left people quite apprehensive of the latest game. However, I am quite glad to say that Tomb Raider Legend not only lives up to, but surpasses most peoples expectations.

“If you’ve been pining for a good adventure, Tomb Raider: Legend is waiting for you.” -IGN

You are thrust into the game in a search for lost fragments of a legendary sword. You visit such interesting, varied and great-looking environments as Peru, England, Kazakhstan, and even Tokyo. You can shoot the hell out of people with your trademark pistols while doing ‘neo’ moves through the air. You even ride across rooftops with a Ducati Motorbike. The moves in tomb raider are, as is expected, fantastic. And the animations for these moves are even more so. The real problem with Legend though, is that its short. It took me exactly 6 hours and 56 minutes to complete the game (thats not including the time afterward collecting all the extras in her mansion though).

Godfather, The

Adventure — pcgamereader @ March 25, 2006

You should definetely play this one if you liked Mafia or Gta, or you just like good games

godfather.jpg

Speaking about The Godfather, i must say it is nice at almost every aspect. I can’t judge it’s conformity with the movie because i have never watched it but surely i can say that the story is pretty interesting and is one of those thing that makes u play it throughout. The gfx are pretty nice, but i was waiting for something more u know, after all the hype about EA doing that much research on 1940s New York i though it could be better, but the buildings seems to be the same wherever you go

“Final analysis? It’s a good game, but many of its strengths are bogged down by obvious flaws.” -IGN

Marc Ecko’s Getting Up

Adventure — pcgamereader @ February 27, 2006

What could easily be dismissed as a me-too urban beat-em-up drips with value and style. All games should be this fresh.

It was seen as the most promising title in 2005, and now that it is finally out in stores I had to have it. And it came with a free t-shirt..

The intro already makes you want to know what exactly happened to Trane, and how the times were before artists were arrested and beaten up by the police. In the game you will never experience that, however Trane’s monologues explain everything to you during the game.

“I appreciate what this game is trying to do. Unfortunately, it can’t quite get the fundamental controls to work well enough.” -IGN

The gameplay is very good, within 30 minutes you know all there is to enjoy the game, what buttons to press, how to spray quickly enough and most of all how to fight. Overall the gameplay works near perfectly, just some minor flaws with the camera at times.

Sound and music are superb, many good artists wrote tracks for the game (like Fort Minor for example), and the music works very well with the game’s environment.

Marc Ecko’s Getting Up is pretty short, with only 20 levels to play, but all in all it is a must buy for everyone even remotely interested in the graffiti scene!

About this game

Play as Trane, a “toy” graffiti artist with the street smarts, athletic prowess and vision to become an “All City King” - the most reputable of all graffiti artists. Along your quest, uncover the mayor’s deep, dark secret… and use your fighting talents and high-wire graf to expose the city’s leader as a corrupt tyrant.

As you struggle to save a neighborhood from an oppressive government, one question stands out: What if graffiti could change the world? Risk your life battling city authorities and rival graf gangs - mere obstacles in your attempt to get your tag up. And in this city, not just any tag will do. You’ll have to “Get IN, Get UP and Get OUT”.

Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None

Adventure — pcgamereader @ February 26, 2006

My biggest fear was that the game would be exactly like the story. Well, it pretty much is. Normally this would be a good thing, however, it is most certainly not in this case.

If you have not yet read the book you may be able to enjoy this game. It’s interesting and well put together. Follows the book very well I’d say. Minus of course for the political correctness of the sailor boys rather than the indian boys that Agatha Christie ACTUALLY wrote about. That aside, it stays fairly true to the book.

If you’ve read the book before, do not do not do not buy this game. If you’ve forgotten who the murderer is. Re-read the book. Or, just re-read the ending since that should refresh your memory pretty well.

“Considered as a stand-alone product, however, And Then There Were None should only be considered by the hardest of hard-core adventure game fanatics.” -GameSpy

Graphics are good, details are in depth, plot is well written. By that of course I mean Agatha Christie’s plot is well written.

Bottom line is this: Save your money on a better game. If you’re still interested in this game, buy the book and save yourself time and money. I cannot stress this enough.

About this game

Agatha Christie’s world famous novel, And Then There Were None, is brought to the PC with all of its original baffling suspense!

10 people, strangers to each other, are invited to a lavish estate on an island. Through a recording, their mysterious host accuses each of his ‘guests’ of murder and proceeds to exact ‘justice.’ The tension mounts as, one-by-one, the number of people are reduced through the ingenious plotting of the unseen killer. Prepare to play the video game based on the Bestselling Murder Mystery of All-Time!

Indigo Prophecy

Adventure — pcgamereader @ February 26, 2006

Indigo Prophecy takes the cinematic value of games to a new level.

Indego Prophecy has a entriguing story that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. The game starts with a scene of the main character, Lukas Kane, murdering a man in cold blood. Gameplay starts with no explinations of anything, not even history on Lukas himself. The object of the game is to follow the clues to unwrap an ancient prophecy about the end of the world. one of the most entriguing gameplay features is that you not only control Lukas, who is traveling on one path, but you also control two new york city detectives. All three characters have extremly evolved back stories. Another unique feature of Indego Prophecy is how every action and decision you make effects how much you are informed about the story and how the story itself plays out. To conclude, Indigo Prophecy has not only an amazing story but intriguing gameplay features as well.

About this game

In Indigo Prophecy, a paranormal thriller, New York City is stunned by a series of mysterious murders, all following the same pattern: ordinary people are killing absolute strangers in public areas. Lucas Kane becomes another one of these murderers when he suddenly kills a stranger in a men’s bathroom. Covered in blood, Lucas regains consciousness with no recollection as to why he committed murder. Lucas must solve the mystery before being incarcerated for life.

“If it was a book you’d call it “a real page-turner”; it can be nigh-impossible at points to put down.” -1UP

A free-flowing game during which players can assume the role of multiple characters and experience the game from multiple viewpoints, Indigo Prophecy allows players’ actions to affect the plot by offering a scenario driven interactive experience. Through motion picture techniques, players find themselves intimately immersed in the game.
