Rainbow Six: Lockdown

Action Games — pcgamereader @ February 27, 2006

Under developed A.I. makes this game not only boring, but mind boggingly annoying.

This game constitutes a colossal disappointment for me. I loved Rainbow Six 3 (especially over xbox Live) and it’s subsequent expansions… but Lockdown is like a knife to the heart. For some reason, the developers have made this one more arcadelike… and unlike Ghost Recon 2 where the added action made the game play much better, here it just doesn’t work due to poor A.I. and boring kill-anything-that-moves mentality. The thick, tense silence that made previous Rainbow games such a white knuckle experience is gone.

“Sadly, Lockdown may go down in history as the installment that kills the Rainbow Six franchise.” -GameSpy

Please don’t get me wrong, with some developed A.I., some better squad based fighting, and perhaps more mission variety, this could have been Tom Clancy’s flagship production. It just needed more care in development! It’s like a budget game version of Rainbow Six, and it’s just not much fun. Hardcore Rainbow Six fans will want to pass.

About this game

In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Lockdown, you lead Team Rainbow, the world’s most elite counter-terrorist unit, as they are called into action and unfamiliar territory to battle a bioterrorist threat. Stakes escalate as they are personally targeted by an evil terrorist organization. Used to protecting the lives of others, Team Rainbow must now embark on a mission to fight and save some of their own.
